Since February 2009 Sharm residents joined forces against the growing garbage problem in Sharm El Sheikh and the surrounding desert. Our main goal is to preserve this beautiful area for tourists and residents alike.
Volunteers work in three sub-groups on different levels to achieve results:
If you are interested in contributing to a cleaner environment, or just want to stay up to date on Clean Sharm’s activities, please contact: info@cleansharm.org
The Core group works behind the scenes to develop the best strategy to address the severe problems. This group brings the problems and possible solutions under the attention of the authorities and has established contacts with the Mayor of Sharm El Sheikh and the Governor of South Sinai, as well as with the garbage collection company SES, local garbage collection companies and SSDM.
The Clean Up group is our most visible arm, with monthly Clean Ups covering every time another location in the wider Sharm El Sheikh area. The Clean Ups aim to set an example and to educate the residents on the need to keep also the outside environment clean.
The EDU group is in charge of developing campaigns and materials to educate the people in Sharm on how to properly dispose of garbage and protect the environment.
SSR - Sea Street Residents - Hadaba consists of a group of residents, who are keen to conserve, protect and clean Sea Street and the cliff area along with the beach.
